Keynote Speaker: Nekima Levy-Pounds
We
are so excited to have Nekima Levy-Pounds as our keynote speaker for
the 2016 NLG Midwest Regional Conference. She will be addressing the
role of lawyers and legal workers in
the struggle for policing and criminal justice reform.
Nekima Levy-Pounds is a professor at University of St. Thomas School
of Law in Minneapolis, where she directs the Community Justice Project,
and president of the Minneapolis NAACP. She was a defendant in the
recent prosecution of Black Lives Matter activists at the Mall of
America, and a guiding voice in the occupation of the 4th Police
Precinct following the death of Jamar Clark.
